I am certainly not someone who advocates violence. BUT, I do believe we have a right to defend ourselves against evil. This elderly man believes the same thing. He was in a cafe and two teenage thugs came in with weapons. Their idea was to collect all cell phones, collect all money from the store and the customers, and leave. What they got instead was a 71 year old man with a concealed carrier permit and his trusty .380. This guy lit right into the kid with a gun. Shot him in the butt and leg. Both boys, age 19, and I call them boys because they are definitely not men, were so scared they ran out of the store. They were later apprehended.

Independence Day 2012
My favorite holiday with Christmas as a very close second. I hope we can always celebrate our freedom. And by "we" I mean our children and their children and their children...

Summertime, Pinterest and catching up...
I am getting excited for summertime and the month of July. Not really because of the heat, though. Because if I had a choice, my 4th of July and Pioneer Day celebrations would be much nicer if the temps were in the nice mid-seventies!
I love the Red, White and Blue of our American Flag. I love the ideals that our country was founded on. I love that Heavenly Father has blessed me with the opportunity to live here. I love the parades, fireworks and all the family gatherings in between. I love playing games on the lawn as the sun sets. I love my sweet little fire pit and roasting hot dogs and maybe a marshmallow or two. I love watching the fire and the smell of the burning wood. I love getting warmed on a cool desert night. I love that the neighbors will stop by and visit. You may even be lucky enough to see our second annual "Christmas tree fire work" from your front window!
I work at a cute little shop that sells paper, stickers, gifts, jewelry and paper. I get to work with that paper at work. How cool is that?!!! All colors. Many, many designs. I love to make things with paper. My latest creation is a wreath of stars cut from their latest red, white and blue paper. LOVE! Come by and see it. Come by and see me! Come by...
Summer is always a time for camping, road trips and family parties. Actually, I am lucky enough to have family parties all year. But, summertime makes them even nicer because the kids can play all over the yard and let the adults visit!
This year we are planning a trip to Yellowstone and a stay in a nice big cabin. We are also going to be spending some time in the great outdoors of Ogden Canyon. We try to get the best spot and so far we have been able to stay there the last three years. Close to the river and large enough for everyone to be nearly on top of each other!
I have also found this fun little website called "Pinterest". It is kinda like "Hoarders" only not so messy! I have found many great ideas for decorating, organizing, cleaning the house; gardening, cooking, gift giving and inspirational thoughts to ponder and share. I have made some really fun kids gifts for the nieces and nephews. I have done some cute party decorations with the help of some amazing friends. It has become the latest gadget to fill up a minute or 10!
Jeff is done with school in 4 more days! He is counting the seconds. And then all summer he will be counting the days till he can go back! I am glad he likes his job. I am glad the kids like him.
Maddie is working her way through a tough class. She is almost finished with it. THANK YOU! She had about 10 inches cut from her beautiful head of hair. Some fantastic, brave little kid might get a great head covering with Maddie's thick, brown curls. Her new cut is very cute...and short!
Hunter is almost done with his second year of Jr. high. He has a summer job and is looking forward to earning lots of mula! And, he is taller than the girls in the family. I think he is still growing. He may be taller than Jeff before long.
Meg is still loving life as a missionary. She has had many wonderful experiences with so many great people. She will be home in less than 9 months now and really does not want to come home. I am thankful for that...let me explain...she is completely immersed in serving others and she is loving every minute of it. She says she is worn out at the end of the day but in a good way!
Stop by and visit the fire pit. Come see the fun store. Find some great things to do on my Pinterest boards. I will chat with you later.
Have a safe and fun summer.
